Why doesn't NexSpeak use a traditional level test?
A static test measures what you recognise. NexSpeak measures how you USE English — story by story, flashcard by flashcard. We calibrate you as you learn.

The problem with tests
You've spent years ticking multiple-choice answers on English tests. You know the right answer when you see it. But in a meeting, at the NHS, or when your landlord calls — the answer doesn't appear in a list. You have to produce it. Tests measure RECOGNITION. NexSpeak trains PRODUCTION.
How it calibrates without an exam
Start with story-1
5 minutes of native British audio + 10 mnemonic flashcards. Pure A1.
Adjusts to your pace
A1 in 2 days or 2 months — doesn't matter. Spaced repetition calibrates itself based on each flashcard response.
A2 is ready when you finish A1
No "test between levels". A2 structures are already pre-exposed in A1 stories.
What if I don't know where to start?
Start with story-1. Always. If you already have a base, the first chunks will feel too easy — that's useful information, it means your real level is higher, and the system lets you advance faster while still reinforcing the structures that actually challenge you. If you have no base, story-1 takes you from zero to understanding real phrases in 5 minutes.
The questions a test can't answer
- Can I follow a meeting at real speed?
- Do I understand English with a Birmingham, Glasgow or Newcastle accent?
- Do I know what to say when the doctor asks about my symptoms?
- Does English come out without translating word by word?
A test tells you "B1". NexSpeak trains you to say YES to those four questions.
